Your Workday Ends Here: A 10-Minute After-Work Reset

You’ve answered the emails. Survived the meetings. Solved problems that weren’t technically yours to solve.

Congratulations. You’re off the clock.

Now, if someone could please inform your brain.

The transition from working to not working has become surprisingly difficult. We close the laptop, walk through the front door—and immediately start thinking about tomorrow.

Try giving yourself ten minutes to change the channel.

Put your phone down. Light a couple sticks of incense. Pour something you enjoy. Find a comfortable chair, the porch, the patio or your favorite corner of the house.

Then do something radical:

Nothing.

No scrolling. No checking tomorrow’s calendar. No mentally composing an email to Steve explaining, once again, what “reply all” means.

Just sit.

Notice the fragrance. Watch the incense smoke wander around without a single deadline. Listen to some music, stare out the window or simply enjoy ten minutes when nobody needs anything from you.

The goal isn’t to become enlightened by 6:17 p.m.

It’s simply to create a small ritual that separates their time from your time.

Ten minutes. That’s it.

Tomorrow will arrive soon enough.

Tonight, however, belongs to you.

Your workday ends here.

Enjoy the Zen.
